'What on the Edge' is an innovative collaboration that brings together the visionary talents of SA Choreographer Lina Limosani and Melbourne Magician Elio Simonetti. Our project breathes new life into the timeless horror folktale ‘Bluebeard’ through a mesmerising fusion of contemporary dance, black art theatre, and illusion. This unique blend not only captivates but also connects deeply with modern audiences, addressing themes of control and patriarchy through the lens of women's experiences and societal dynamics.

The production artfully translates its concrete and relatable concepts into a playful and theatrical experience, seamlessly integrating the world of magic. Exploring both our conscious and unconscious behaviors, the production delves into the intricacies of our actions, those we are aware of and those that occur without our conscious recognition.

Our fantastical world of What Lurks on the Edge is one in which the respectable ‘natural’ order of things is fused with a subterranean world of violent nightmares. The hero must navigate a dangerous, claustrophobic world that's been created to mislead and ensnare her.

Through a blend of illusion and dance, the performance uncovers hidden truths about personal power and self-determination.
